Hi mustang fans

I would like to ask your expertise on this question, i just bought a 2005 v6 auto, conv. with 10miles and and I love it,I like its power but I find that wheN i Want to pass someone on the highway or street, I have to press a good distance to get a kickdown, I came out of a 24valve dohc ford taurus and all I had to do with that car to get a kickdown is press about an inch and a half, the manual says to disconnect the battery and it the car will learn how you drive and adjust itself, I did that and all I find is that when I floor it it has a more solid shift??

p.s. I am no way saying that the taurus is faster just that the throttle response is much better. Can anyone explain?

Re: Hi mustang fans

It's probably due to the "Drive-by-wire" technology in the 05+ Mustangs. It's something a lot of people have complained about regarding the new Mustangs (including myself).

Instead of the throttle body being opened by a mechanical cable, it's done by the ECU, which causes lag.

If you are serious about making it quicker, you might want to look into a tune.

Re: Hi mustang fans

You have a drive by wire setup so your computer controls the throttle not the gas petal directly. A tune im sure can alter this to your specifications.

Re: Hi mustang fans

Drive by Wire "Learns" your driving habits and seeing you bought the stang used you might want to try this

You can reset the throttle response alone by - - turning on the key but NOT starting the car... press down on the gas peddle at a medium speed untill it hits the floor - hold it on the floor for 1 second then at a medium speed bring the peddle back up. Turn off the car... This resets the stepper responder.

To reset the entire computer, you have to disconnect the battery for 15 seconds. it will reset all the sensor learning overrides back to zero and start to learn your driving habits
