4:10 gears

I just bought a set of new 4:10 on Ebay for $85 shipped, but I have a few questions about them. One question is how much will the speedometer be off and will it being off effect the millage on the car if I drive it without re calibrating the speedometer. Also what is the cheapest way to re calibrate the speedometer. For now I just am going to buy the gears since I got them cheap enough and I hope to buy a T-lock next summer. Also will I need anything else to have a mechanic install these.

Re: 4:10 gears

It will throw off your speedo about 7-10 mph. If you're over 100k miles it is best to get a bearing kit also. and your mechanic should be able to recalibrate your speedo for a fair price(depending on your mechanic)

Re: 4:10 gears

If possible if you plan on racing or anything like racing I would invest in one of these or equivalent or a 8.8 rearend.

Re: 4:10 gears

Id wait and do them both at once. You will be paying for install twice if you wait to do the tlok next summer.

Re: 4:10 gears

yes you need to install your gears, and tlok at the same time. as well as get your car tuned. installin gears at the same time will be anywhere from $500-$900 and more if you do it all seperately
