Re: 17's or 18's?

Either will work....you just need to prepare yourself for tire prices. 18s are expensive...much more so than 17s.

As for width, that will depend on rims size. If they are 9" rims....then 275's...if they are 10-10.5"...then you will want 295-315's. We have a complete tire selection writeup somewhere around here...someone will link to it I am sure...I'm just lazy right now as the AC is out in the building. lol

Re: 17's or 18's?

I like 17's on pre 99's, 18's on 99-04's and 20's (certain ones) on 05's and up

i would go with 17's but thats just me.....theres many people that would tell you to go with 18's.....if you want to see what wheels look like go to The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels they have replica mustang wheels and you can click on them and they'll be on a picture the car above.

Re: 17's or 18's?

You can get by with 17's on a 94-98 and they are rather cheap. It all depends on if you mind droping that kind of cash for tires regularly for 18s etc etc.

You bastard! That's my car!

If I had to do it again, I would get 17s for tires alone. I paid $750 for tires, and that included all of it. Then again, I got the rims for a steal for just $440 shipped.

And then, when the time comes you need new tires...you get to pay $750 again...which is pretty cheap compared to what I was looking at when I looked at new rims. Mine were all about ~200-220 each...but I only wanted Nitto's or BFG.

Instead I went with 17" rims...so I could get the same nittos for $150 each assuming I go retail and not through a wholesaler.

Cost of tires was my main driving factor for staying with 17's instead of going to 18's. They way I drive, it would cost me a fortune to replace tires all the time with 18s.

I am going to go 18's or keep what I have. I wont drive the car much so the tires will last a good bit.

I paid $187 for mine after tax. They were $150 per before tax. Mine are Mastercraft Avenger ZHP 265/35/18. The are a sub brand of Cooper tire.

Tapered Tread
This design feature puts deep tread in the center and slightly shallower tread in the shoulders. This puts more rubber down in the fastest wearing part of the tire, the center. The result is less weight and improved wet handling.

Optimized Tire Profile
The slightly rounded mold profile of the Avenger ZHP balances wet traction and long tread life.
And they do rock in the rock. You can't even tell it's raining or wet on the road at all.

Re: 17's or 18's?

you have to remember, you may not have to pay off the tires now, but chances are you'll have to pay straight out of pocket when you replace them. and like we've said, there is a huge difference in price between the two.

i'll say it before spector does..yokohama avs es100's

my friend has them on his 300z, they are nice. BFG KD's or KDW's or whatever are also nice i hear, but they are expensive as well. My sumitomos were fairly cheap and are doing well...not super sticky, but for my purposes they are fine.

Re: 17's or 18's?

18's will cost you more...just depends on the look you want.

I paid 167 a tire plus 25 a piece for mounting and balancing. These are 275-35/18

BF Goodrich G-force Sports. Never ran a Goodrich before, I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. For what my car can do, they are plenty. If I had more power I would get DR's for the back.
