Upgrading on a budget

Next year I'll be swapping motors completely but until then I need some suggestions to stay in a limited budget and maximize my rear wheel horsepower. Mainly I'm looking for the best parts/brands, not the most expensive. I have a Steeda catalog but I'm sure there's better brands out there. I'll be spending about this much each month over the next three months. Month 1 is $800 bucks, Month 2 is $700, and Month 3 is $500.

To be honest...I'd save up and put the money into the engine you plan on swapping. No point in putting that much into an engine you won't use.

I'd probably spend the money strengthening the drivetrain such as an 8.8 with the gears you want, possibly 31 spline if you are planning on big power down the road, invest in a good built transmission, upgrade your suspension to handle more power, etc.

2k won't do anything but hit the tip of the iceberg on a turbo system...

You could buy a system, install it, and come up with another 800 for a tune.

Re: Upgrading on a budget

The best thing to do money wise if you are going to put in a v8 is to sell the car and buy the car you want. This way you not only get what you want but you have a car thats actually worth something in the end. Just pool your money until you can afford what it is that you want. I had to save for five years to get my car... If I had just blown that money on my old 01 v6 it wouldn't be anywhere near where my current car is.
