good clutch...

I can tell that my clutch is going to be going soon, so since it is a pretty vital part I guess I'm gonna have to replace it sooner then i wanted to. I have a 5 speed with the 3.8L and I was wondering what would be a nice clutch to get that would be a bit better then the stock clutch and be able to handle 300 hp in the future. Its still my daily driver so getting a hard clutch would not be favorable so I'm wondering what you guys are using. I had driven my friends mustang and his clutch was nice because you didnt have to put it all the way to the floor to engage the gears so shifting was pretty quick and no worries about grinding gears. I figure I might as well do the flywheel as well since it will be accessable so thats probably gonna happen too. Curious on your thoughts. Thanks.

Re: good clutch...

We have a FRPP King Cobra in the notch. It's pretty stiff and not too grabby. Just put a SPEC 2 in the Bullitt. Softer than a stock clutch to push down, but is a little grabby. If you are staying around a 300 hp level, I'd recommend a SPEC 1.

Re: good clutch...

Yeah I was just checking out the SPEC 1 clutch on stangsuspension.com. Probably what I'm gonna get. Thanks bullitt!

Re: good clutch...

When you put the clutch in, be prepared for the clutch to go to the floor. I swear, the clutch was so easy to press, I thought I left the cable disconnected....

Re: good clutch...

Lol that should be an intresting first ride around. How does it engage? Do you need to press the clutch to the floor to engage or does it catch halfway?

Re: good clutch...

Still using the ****ty stock clutch adjuster quadrant crap, so it engages about halfway.

My Spec Stage I was pretty stiff. I liked it though.
