Tuners

Now that Im settled down in my new job and after a few Marauders slipped away Im going to spend some money on the Mustang (again). Ive been looking at getting a SCT SF3 tuner. Now I was going to buy it from AM to get the free tunes for life and what not. But with my car being an automatic I know that the tune will help crispin the shifts and everything. Do you guys think it will take away that obnoxious first gear whine when you accelerate?

Re: Tuners

no all the tuner does is change the pressure sensor reading in the tranny to make it shift harder also it changes when it shifts at a different speed depending on the tune.

I had a local shop put a tune just to firm up the shifts on my 94 and thats what the tech guy told me it does, and i still hear the wining sound.

Also the tech told me if you are having ANY trouble with the tranny, not to firm the shifts until you know whats wrong with it. Mine i was having problems with the way it shifted it wasn't slipping but wouldn't shift right and tuning the computer for firm shifts worked out great and im not having anymore problem right now.

Re: Tuners

Nothing wrong with the trans its just an good ol' auto Ford trans with a little whine. I was just hoping that when the tune makes the trans shift harder and crisper it would stop the whine because the whine is carried out in the first gear at low RPMs.

HAHA my buddy has a supercharged GT and i took him for a ride and told him mine was supercharged but it was quieter because it was a v6. He heard the whine and believed me. eventually he caught on haha! but it was funny and i do like that sound. it does sound like a quiet supercharger!
