Alternator?

Ok so I need a new alternator, anyone have any recommendations on alternators, I know of PA Performance, should I just stick with a oem (even with all the problems that ford has with them). Just want to hear some thoughts and I don't want to have to replace this one in a couple of months.

Re: Alternator?

Yah I've heard good things about the PA Performance alternators...not too much else about any others. I guess the stock ones have surging issues where the performance ones are much better.

How much are the OEM alternators compared to the PA ones? If the price difference isn't that much I'd get the PA alternator.

Re: Alternator?

I think it's about $60-70 difference, but if I only have to be one ever again instead of going through multiple ones then it's worth it.

This is true. Alterstart is another brand out there. They are more of a performance alternator for big steroes and such...I had a friend who had one for his 01 F150, he didn't have any problems with it.

Re: Alternator?

Ok seeming to have a hard time finding aftermarket alternators, found oem ones, but don't want to go that route with all the problems.

Re: Alternator?

Yah I've really seen are the PA Performance ones and the Alterstart stereo alternators.
Maybe someone else will chime in on another brand they've seen.

I too was looking for a higher output alternator. Now I don't know what's considered the best and worst but some names I've seen include Bosch and PA off the top of my head. After checking with some of our site sponsors look at Summit Racing for a few name brands and options to see what you may want to get.
