First Mod to my Stang

Well, finally put the first mod into my car. Added a BBK CAI to my '10, and it's pretty nice. It will be the first of quite a few mods to come

Does a tune with the CAI really do that much of a difference? I heard it doesnt really do anything with bolt ons

Well it does with the +05's. They are much more sensitive to slight changes in air to fuel ratios from CAI's and exhaust. A tune will make them more effective as well as prevent the car from running rich.

Our cars (pre 05's) aren't affected by bolt ons like the newer models are.

Re: First Mod to my Stang

Tuners are certainly not a bad thing. Even for the 99-04's they'll give you some hp/tq based on the nature of the tune (octane level). They are great for autos, a good tune will have your auto transmission shifting like a race car. Just this change alone is worth the price of the tuner for an auto car.

It will give an extra 11-15 more hp, it might not seem like to much but you will deffinently feel it. And since you're automatic you'll see a huge difference, it would be worth the money.

Just think about every time you floor it taking off and barking the tires when it shifts into 2nd gear at 45-50 mph

Re: First Mod to my Stang

Just an FYI but the 05+ require a retune, the car may not be safe with just the intake on the car and no tune. It will probably be just fine driving around but I would not go full throttle. I know that sucks but its not worth blowing your car up

check with americanmuscle and their bamachip tunes or someone local that is GOOD (research here) with your type of car.

Well, next will be to tint the windows if you can call that a mod lol. It's hot here where I live, so i definately need to do that. I do want to get a tuner, and im debating on which dual exhaust route to go.

Hell yes tint's a great mod....in addition to keeping it cooler in the cabin and preventing glare, it makes the car look sleek. What percent tint are you getting?

darkest legal tint i can get i suppose. Since the car is a dark blue, the tint will look really nice with it. I also plan on getting black rims with a chromed lip, or all black rims.

Barbados are always a nice mod. I went with cai, magnaflow catbacks, and steeda under drive pulleys.

A tuner is great and like everyone said it's not about the hspw u gain but the feel of the car, from shifts, to throttle response become do much better. Makes driving much more pleasurable.
But even better then a tune is a Dyno tune. Taking to a shop that specializes is Dyno tunes.
It's a even more precise change to the power profile of the car. But a bit more expensive.

My advise save up for the cai maybe a exhaust system and then go for the tune at the same time.
It's not blower power but ull be happier .
Good luck

My only issue with that is that you dyno the car as it sits, with the current mods. Say you add udp's...now you'll want to take it to the dyno for another $120. With the tuner (especially one bought from American Muscle/BamaChips) you can have another tune sent to you for free with the updated mods. So for ~$400 you get the ability to update tunes for life.

Thats very true but what about runs, the dynoshop said they tune it and do some kind of runs. > Includes basic Dyno run w/ 3 pulls; check & adjust
air/fuel ratio.< ??

Re: First Mod to my Stang

They dyno shop is definatly a better tune but most people do mods over time and its better for them to use a cheaper tune since they have to do it so many times.
