I have dual flowmasters with an H pipe on my '04 v6. I however do not have cats - if you have strict EPA laws You might want hi flow cats. Mine sounds good and deep rumble but I was thinking about adding a prochamber to get a little deeper sound.

Mine doesn't sound ricey at all

Re: 2004 Ford Mustang 3.9L exhaust

Ya it seems that Flowmaster 40's, an o/r h-pipe or catted h-pipe if emissions are checked, and longtube headers make for the best sounding v6. I'm sure the car would still sound good without the longtubes...as in Lalayla's case. The longtubes would add a deeper tone overall and some slight performance gains.

At idle and low rpm's the car will sound damn good for a 6, but above 2500rpms it will get higher pitched. No way around it, just the nature of our sixers. Also, Flowmasters are known to drone, so this could happen as well.

I wouldn't spend a ton on exhaust...an o/r h-pipe from MAC is ~$150, Flowmaster 40's with mandrel bent piping at an exhaust shop - $160 for the mufflers and whatever shop costs are for piping/labor. Probably $400-550 for exhaust installed. Longtubes would be another $300 plus install.

If you go with flowmaster's get the super 44's. They have the deepest loudest sound out of all flowmasters, If you dont believe me ask flowmaster themselves. They come with a black coating to prevent them from rusting out like normal flows do.

+1 on long tubes and prochambers with an h-pipe. Will give you a deep rumble til about 4000 rpms or so. Happy driving

I like the setup I have for a 6. Mac longtubes and o/r h with flow 40's. Plus you wont have to ever worry about touching the exhaust again unless you go with a turbo.

Yah thanks, I thought those were louder than the regular 40's, but wasn't sure.

Just make sure to get the "super 44's", not the deltas, I believe they are made to be quieter both outside and inside the cabin.
