I'd suggest an M90 Supercoupe engine swap for your car but then you have the reliability issue so I'd forget that project.

I agree with suggesting the 94-95 5.0 v8 if you really want the SN95 body style. The 2v's are great engines, but only if you want a smaller v8 that makes decent power, alright with some mods and still gets +20 mpgs. I wouldn't buy one if you want 400hp from a dd. That'd be much easier to achieve with the 5.0's.

Plus the 96-98 2v 4.6L's were rated at 215 and 225hp and were non PI engines...a PI head swap from a 99+ 4.6L will get you ~260hp at the crank, but additional bolt on's and mild head work still won't make huge power.

The 5.0's have a lot of options out there, from h/c/i upgrades to simply slapping on a procharger ie forced induction and make big power.
A pi headswap increases the compression ratio and you end up with about 10 ponies over the 99-04s. The 2vs are super reliable and you can rev the piss out of them and they beg for more and parts are becoming more abundant and cheaper. The 5.0s have more torque but don't spin as well. Depends what your trying to accomplish. Mileage is way better on the 4.6s. And the look way better. My fave is the 01 with a little scoop on hood. I have a 2000 and love it but I am gonna put a shaker on it or something. In the long run you gotta be happy and there are pros and cons to them all. If your after speed and power I am afraid forced induction is the only way to achieve your goals. Happy holidays and just remember, you own a mustang man drive er

Ya I mean I love the 1999-2004 body style. I have been told that there are a ton of things u can do to the 4.6. But I have also been told that the 5.0's adjust really well to upgrades. What I mean by that is if u put just a little upgrade on it it increases the power more than that same part on a 4.6 would

Yes they do...they respond better to mods than the 4.6's. Most of that's because they are OHV pushrod engines...they're much easier to repair, work on, and get more out of what you put into them.

Yup and there are 20 years worth of parts out there and guys who are expert builders of them on these forums so you can get alot of info quick. But again it's just about you being happy with your car. I thought about buying a fox body before I bought this edge car. I chose the edge because of handling and revs..... These babys wanna spin. I love my car and I suppose I am as happy with it as I can afford to be. Tax time will give me some turbo money I hope. Then I will be selling a nitrous system...... Maybe.... I wish I lived somewhere warm because I wanna drive

So i was talking to a friend today and we were talkin about what I could do to my car and we came up wit the idea of doing a motor swap out of a ford explorer wit the 5.0 and an 8.8 rear end wit bigger injectors and a cobra intake manifold that came stock on the 5.0 explorer.. Do u see any problems wit that??

Seems like a lot of hassle when you can just sell your car and buy a 5.0 GT for a couple of thousand dollars more than your car is worth right now.

Re: Wanting to make my V6 ALOT faster!!

well i already have a 5.0 from an explorer waiting to be used... and i already have a 8.8 rear end.. and all the other stuff i need for the swap.. i just need to do it... it would be a heck of alot cheaper than buying a new car... i am 18 and i have a part time job.. so i dont have alot of money to pay for insurance so if i do the sawp i will still be paying v6 insurance price

I'm definitely with Brent on this, but to each their own...

Until you wreck your car and insurance refuses to cover it....

A 5.0 has different mounts, cobra intake is expensive as hell. Bro you will be spending way more than if you just bought a TURBO. I am not answering anymore on this thread

Just a FYI- A copy of my SCT dyno. The car was run on the dyno 4 times while file was being created. This must be a summary or just one copy, its all I got. If its unreadable it says Max Power=147 Max Torq=219
Just basic bolt-ons: CAI,catback exhaust,BBK TB, UD Pulleys.
For us 94-98 guys, I got about 21 HP out of it.
