mach1 grille delete

ok guys i got dark smoked headlights, mach1 grille delete, & mach1 chin spoiler for christmas. installed the headlights and grille delete, but the grille delete doesn't look right...

the red shows through from the backside where the bumper is and also where my pony emblem is mounted. looking on americanmuscle.com i don't see this issue on any of the customer images. feels like i'm missing something somewhere...

here is a link to the parts i ordered:
Mach 1 Mustang Grille Delete Kit - 2pc (99-04 GT/V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
you can also see the customer images there as well...

any ideas?

EDIT: is this area black from the factory? i have had a front-end collision. maybe they painted it red when it was originally black???

Re: mach1 grille delete

You're either missing the black plastic backing piece, or it was painted when your car was repaired.

This piece:

Re: mach1 grille delete

Looks real good...I did the smoked headlights and grille delete last summer and couldn't be happier.

Yah it looks like you got the 2 piece as well. I did that at first because I'm a cheap bastard but then realized the same thing...it didn't look right. So I ordered the 3rd piece from Stangmods. Don't forget to use "Stangmods" as a coupon code to get 5% off...and yes I can post that, it's common knowledge on the internet

Re: mach1 grille delete

many forget the back grill part that hides all that crap. Its the mach 1 or cobra grill NOT the regular or GT version. It has a part that wraps over the top edge where the front cover over the radiator is. Its not super expensive, get that take the front bumper off to put it on and your good to go.

Looks bad *** and what will the next mod be. I think the front end looks great and once you add the 3rd piece it will complete it. Mine is being installed in Jan. I have so much to do on mine.

Yah that's what's nice about it...real easy to install. It took me longer to unscrew the pony than to stick that 3rd piece in place, lol.

So do I have to remove the front bumper to install the third piece??

Next mod is the chin spoiler. Then some 18x9 black chrome saleens. After that it'll be suspension.

No I didn't remove my bumper. And sounds like a plan. Do you have any performance Mods planned? I know you were talking about a supercharger when I met you.

haven't really decided what i'll do with the car yet. she's getting up there in mileage so i don't think i want to supercharge her now.

for a while i was thinking of selling the V6 and the fox and getting a new 5.0. but i know i would regret it. as nice as the new 5.0's are my V6 is priceless to me being my first pony.

my thought for now is to keep both of them and use the 6er til she dies on me. which i'm hoping is still a good time away. start saving money and eventually drop a new 5.0 in.. make it a sleeper. that would be great. and keep building on the fox and eventually take it to the track

guess we'll see what happens in time.

None taken. It has been a goal of mine to get all three types, even though there are minor things I don't like on each.
