Power Upgrades

Without doing a whole lot of engine rebuild and spending alot of money, what are the best ways to add power to your stock V6?

Re: Power Upgrades

Best way is to purchase a tuner for your car. Probably go with a SCT tuner.

Re: Power Upgrades

for an 05+ you need to do a tune with an intake, I would consider saving up and buying all the mods at once, installing them, then getting a tuner/tune from a good dyno shop like VMP or someone like that, they can do a remote dyno tune using a local dyno.

Have you heard of GForce chips? I heard they give around 30hp. Do you know if they work?

Re: Power Upgrades

chips are normally a huge waiste of money and normally promise more gains than they deliver...plus with a tuner you can always change the tunes and go very specifics to the modifications that you have...I would definitely go with the tuner over a chip.

Plus 1. Buy the tuner/gears combo from american muscle and put in 4.10s and you get free tunes for life. Unless you are a racer or have to get a dialed power adder dialed in a dyno tune is a little excessive You will thank me. And our cars ain't getting no 30 horse from no chip.

I like the 4:10 gears, I had them in my 97 GT. I think I might do that

Re: Power Upgrades

those ebay "chips" are a rip off dont do it, go SCT with a REAL tune and you will be good to go. What year is your car? Different years act differently to mods etc.

^STICK with SCT TUNERS^ If you do what he mentioned above, you will be incredibly happy with your new improved V6 Mustang.

Re: Power Upgrades

def bolt ons, but you can't do too much without money...even stuff like CAI and exhaust will only give limited power boosts

think of it this way...cai, exhaust, cam, headers, tune, etc and you should get some increase out of all of that....

...or you could save up and eventually do a blower, just sayin though
