Wishing you had a v8?

I absolutely love my 2009 v6 mustang but lately ive been getting alot of crap about my mustang being a v6. I Intend on purchasing a GT later in life but i can't really afford it. I want the power for bragging rights and the looks but im not willing to give up my mustang. Just want more power in the same car. Anyone else have the same feelings?

Re: Wishing you had a v8?

it wont take to much, they already have a decent amount of power. Do the bolt ons and get some gears and a tune.

I get the same because my baby is a v6 too, but I've made her the best looking 6. At least its not a 4 cyl. lol. besides I think its better to have a v6 first to learn how to work on it and still get good gas mileage then once the money is there get an 8. I want a cobra as my next stang....

Might not have the four cylinder much longer. Just found a listing for a 1990 5.0 hatchback for 1650 in the newspaper, going to check it out this weekend

Yeah I'm happy with mine and it's definitely not a bland v6 still I would love to get my hands on the new shelby gt350 or at least a GT.

Who cares what other people say....tell em to stick it where the sun don't shine! Don't let "bragging rights" force you into something you can't afford. Good things come to those that wait.

Re: Wishing you had a v8?

you wont feel much different after the new factor wears off if you were to sell yours and buy an 05-09 GT... its not that much of a difference overall. There are always trash talkers that need to make themselves feel better by talking down to those they feel are inferior. If it wasnt for V6 mustangs there would be NO mustang much less a V8 version... the V6 owner gives the V8 owners the ability to even own one.... so think about that next time you make fun of a v6 stang.

Doesn't appear that it's going to work out, The lady selling it said this:

The fuel rails need to be replaced because it's not getting enough fuel also the pressure plate is sticking and it's not disengaging the clutch. I also slammed the door and shattered the drivers side window. As far as mechanical those are the ONLY 2 things it needs I will tell you that it does need some cosmetic work as well. It would be a project for someone but not a big one. The gears shift fine and it doesn't leak any fluids nor doe it smoke. I'm a stay at home mom so I'm around most of the time if you want to see it. It runs and has been driven until yesterday and that's when I attempted to drive it and it didn't want to go in gear so I had it looked at and he said the springs in the pressure plate are worn and that's what is causing it not to shift.

Sounds like it's got some issues...Oh and my dad would have to sell my current one before I could get a new one because he put him down on the title and not me....

Yeah a mustang doesn't have to be a V8 to be an American muscle car I guess.

the history behind these cars is amazing
i love my baby because she is a mustang and i was lucky to have her as my first car
and i know she will take care of me because i will always take care of her
she has proven that already

Re: Wishing you had a v8?

Yeah everytime i hear a gt go down the road with a nice exhaust, i would kill to have one. However, I just don't feel like paying a note at the moment especially when I have a decent looking one that's already paid off. I do look forward to going to the dealership and getting behind the wheel of a new 5.0 or GT500 upon graduation though. That's if I dont cave in and get a used GT this spring/summer

I used to get crap all the time about my v6. The first time I ever went to a parts store to get something for my then 3 day old car the clerk asked me all the usual questions... I was going through all the steps to find out what kind.... Of course there was the same old, year, make, model, etc.... And when I told him it was a 3.8 v6, he said can you even really call that a mustang?

I just said yeah but I like the gas milage.... My response should have been "I'm sorry what kind of Mustang do you have?" Of course one day I'll probably get the answer of a 07 Super snake.... As of yet I haven't.... And I'm just proud to own a pony period, wether it's a 4,6 or an 8.

Yeah what's funny is most people talking trash are the ones with jacked up 2-door pick up trucks. They like to say they have a V8 but they don't realize that the engines bigger for towing stuff. Top speeds only 100 for a lot of those trucks and the mustangs is 120.

new mustangs are not really muscle cars, they are pony cars. Muscle cars to me at least died out back in the day

I got that too.. I found that the best way to shut them up is slapping on a turbo the look on their face is priceless when they just got smoked by a V6

I think people assume you buy Mustangs to go fast in a straight line as most do but... v6's are a better platform for handling

Eh, people are ********...it's perfectly normal for someone who is jealous of something someone else has to make fun of it, simply because they can't have it themselves. Just shrug them off and enjoy your mustang...

If we v6 owners got a nickel for every prick that gave us static about our cars, we'd all have 3 cobras sitting in our driveways, lol.

Re: Wishing you had a v8?

keep in mind some people have delusions about their car and like to talk crap, a few bad owner give all V6 mustang owners a bad name. You dont just put CAI/exhaust/tune and have 400hp... lol

its very hard to get them over 300-325 flywheel hp N/A and with a blower alone 350-370 flywheel is about the limit. Thats not bad in a car that is 3200lbs or so~ there are 700rwhp+ v6's out there they just have ton of work into them.

Exactly, it took me forever to pass 320 at the wheels but being over 350 now and always wanting more us v6 owners gotta work twice as hard for power gains compared to v8's

So here's a good story I have a 1990 gt worked, all the bolt ons, a whole lot of blood and sweat dumped into her, set up for street and drag and as of this week I'm trading to a 1997 3.8. I need rear seats and practicality for a newborn. So don't feel bad wishing for a V8 as long as you run a mustang your having fun.

Not to hijack the thread but......
Been there! I had to sell my '84 because my son was coming. There were no seat belts in the back, heater core was out, and it was just not practical to drive a newborn around in.
We knew we were coming into some money at the end of the year so with the money from the Stang we bought a Cherokee, and once the money came, low and behold, the Cobra showed up out of nowhere!! Sometimes sacrifices pay off huge!!
