Odometer comes and goes

I am tired of my odometer coming and going out on my 99 V-6, anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

odometer and trip odometer function well, you can even reset it while it is out, it just blacks out from time to time.

My 01 V6 does that too, but it only happens rarely. I figured it was probably a loose connection somewhere going to the cluster. If I shut it off and back on again, the display comes right back. Then it will go months before it happens again. Since its only happened a few times, it seems like more trouble than it's worth to try and fix yet.

Re: Odometer comes and goes

It may get worse, thats how mine started. You don't realize how important the odometer is for maintenance, mileage checks, etc, until you don't have it when you need it.

Oh I hear ya and I do intend to fix it. I would just prefer not to do it in 20 degree weather if I don't have to! SInce it's only happend maybe 3 times since the first time it did it about a year ago, I figure I can wait till spring.
