DIFF GEAR WHINE

V6 vert, manual, motive gears, trac-loc, installed at 91,000. Took it back to correct a whine at 93,000. I am now at 96,200 little improvement. Should I take it back or did I already ruined the gears.

Re: DIFF GEAR WHINE

once the gears wear the pattern its pretty much there... you will have to buy a new set. If the gears were used that could be why they whine, the next is they were not isntalled correctly, the final reason is they are richmond, motive, etc and those are known to be easier to whine based on their make up.

Most of the time its install, they didnt do it right.

Definitely would go with a new set. Those are pretty much ruined. I would reccomend a set from Ford Racing.
I rode in my buddy's car and his were so bad it was more like a howl than a whine. The sound will definitely not get better!

Re: DIFF GEAR WHINE

lmao...my ram whines like a city bus.. my gf's dad thought he was in a semi (he drives one). mine didnt get worse, but i cant afford to have the truck down again cause it's my work truck. however, got 2 mtx 10's and 8 other speakers in the truck...so i just turn up the stereo and live with it. im tired of arguing wit the installer.

When did they stop making gears for a 7.5?? Thats going to hurt allot of people since 99% of the rear wheel drive cars have that rearend.

lmao!! the guy at the shop told me it was a ground noise i was hearing from all the emergency equipment in my truck. i told him i been in cruisers since 95..that's a different noise. comes through the speakers. it's the gears, not my l.e.d.'s.. blaming it on something super stupid...wtf
