motor swap

Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap a 98 v6 mustang automatic to a 98 cobra motor 5 speed. Have a complete dokie car with all the parts.

Re: motor swap

it would seem after you swap the k-member and wiring harness the rest would be pretty straight forward..and rear end.

You're better off just buying a v8.

Ya the nice thing I figured out with these cars is that v8s fit next to perfect on them. Switch the rear end and drill new holes for mounts and it practically done

carve out room for the tranny? the bodies are the same between the two cars. im getn ready to do a 97 right now. and im not sure bout drilln holes for motor mounts..its not a chevy. he should just swap out the kmember if he has both cars. it's just a swap...no drill'n is necessary on anything. like a plug and play stereo swap.

Re: motor swap

No need to change K-member. You will need engine, trans, wiring harness, radiator, all hoses and lines, instrument cluster, driveshaft, rear end and I would recommend doing suspension and brakes at the same time as well.

so ur sayn 01 v6 uses the same mounts as a modular v8? i know 3.8 and 5.0 use the same mounts...but modular uses differnt. is 01v6 a modular configuration? i thought he was swapn a 3.8 based v-6 to a modular v8...which use different mounts, so he would have to swap in the v8 cobra k member...

do i have an incorrect understanding?
