Cheap Headers?

Does anyone know a good site to get cheap headers that will increase sound and some hp in my 2001 v6?

Re: Cheap Headers?

check with americanmuscle.com or cjponyparts.com. They wont increase hp (shorties wont) but they will help sound a bit. Overall they are not really worth the cash anywhere near stock as the factory ones flow rather good~ but some like to do the entire exhaust.

Another odd FYI 94-98 factory headers flow better than 99-04 v6 headers~ at least I believe thats right (one way or the other).

One of my headers have a tiny leak in them so I want to replace them but don't want to lose any hp.

Long tubes are going to be expensive (depending on your definition of expensive)...period. There really is no "cheap" version. You're going to pay over $200 for some knock off headers....you gotta pay to play.

That's a common issue with the 6ers as you may know. If you replaced them with shorty headers, you wouldn't lose any power. You won't really gain any either...but you definitely won't lose any.

Shorties really won't change the sound all that much on you...if at all. All shorties will do is replace the casted manifolds that are known to crack due to AC condensation dripping on them while hot...with steel tubing that won't crack.

Also, keep in mind if you decide to go long tubes for the sound, you're going to need a new (shorter) mid pipe as well. Not sure if the v6 long tubes are sold with a mid pipe or not...I know the cobra sets can be sold with or without.

How much sound will long tube add compared to short?

I was going to just try and weld it up but I decided probably not a good idea.

Re: Cheap Headers?

I would just get them welded. Shorties wont do **** for sound or power on our cars unless you are pushing serious power. Long tubes and an o/r h provide the deepest sound but still aren't that loud.

No you need a shorter h. I paid right around 350 for my setup brand new. There are deals out there.

its an easy fix, the crack occurs @ the flange of the manifold. just have it welded back and it shouldn't give you any problems. unless you're looking for an excuse to buy headers. lol i welded mine back and its been 3 years and hasn't given me any issues...
