exterior upgrades :)

Hey guys,
Everyone rags on me for having a v6 but I want to make the outside look badass. I already have a CAI and I'm getting a muffler in a few days. I also have aftermarket tail lights. What can I do to make people jealous

Re: exterior upgrades :)

A set of wheels and a lowering kit will make it stand out more than anything.

You can get fog lights to give the appearance of a gt. Of course wheels and a lowering kit will vastly help too. You can check smaller auto shops for wheels at better prices. Some places have wheels that people left after buying new ones so there cheaper, FYI

Re: exterior upgrades :)

clear tails probably spur them on as they look bad, the oem are the best (perhaps tint them).

Lower it, wheels/tires, grill delete, 99-01 cobra bumper, 03/04 cobra or bullitt side skirts, etc all will help the car out

Re: exterior upgrades :)

Shorty antenna...$15-20 makes all the difference in appearance too. One of the first things I look for when I look at another stang on the road.

Wheels and a drop would definitely improve the look of the car, and you don't have to spend thousands to achieve that look. Decent sets of wheels and tires are out there...check craigslist, mustang forums, and local salvage yards. People on forums are always selling lowering springs for cheap and mustang vendors do have sales often.

You can install springs fairly easily, the mustangs suspension is simple and straight forward.

As said smaller things like a Mach 1 Grill Delete ($60-100), chin spoiler, ($100), chrome or black fuel door ($60) and tint will make a difference.

I personally would shoot for window tint, mach 1 grille delete, tinted tail lights, and a drop. Sometimes a drop can look good with your stock wheels...also 1" wheel spacers will push the rears out flush with the fenders for a wider stance and "bigger wheel" look.

Also don't neglect maintenance...oil, fuel, plugs, fluids, exterior/interior care, etc. No point in making a mean looking car if it won't run properly or look good.

Re: exterior upgrades :)

Cobra style headlights come in many different versions and look great. CCFL halo headlights are sharp looking especially with 'LED switchback bulbs" and HID upgraded bulbs that match color.
Tint the windows.
You have to get off your *** and work to save up for offset wheels. Nine inch wheels up front and deep dish 10.5" wheels in the back. Got to get some wheels. Period.

If I get lowering springs. Do I also have to buy lowered shocks too?

You don't have to... Makes for a smoother ride and better handling... But it's not required

Re: exterior upgrades :)

generally speaking no you wont. If your car has higher miles it might be a wise investment to purchase new shocks/struts... you wont buy "lowered ones" just new ones.

The strut shaft and shock shafts will be pushed more into the strut/shock body more so all the time due to the car being lower so you are correct there and they will wear out sooner but its not bad.

You can buy Caster/Camber plates (needed most always after lowering) and these are sometimes designed in such a way to let the strut shaft come up more to compensate for the lowered car. Maximum motorsports have the best caster/cambers ive seen so I would go with them.

Well I have a 94 v6. My ideas for my exterior mods are; silver side stripe w/ mustang lettering, 8inch shortie, mustang bumper insert, chrome grille with pony, rear window louver, 3rd break bar mustang decal, bullitt style fuel door(black) and black chrome salleen rims. Can someone tell me if that would be a good combo for a look. Thanks
P.S my mustang is black

I put some light grey stripes down the side of my 01 dark blue stang. The stiles are for the new style of stang. Looked beautiful. I'm gettin lemans striping in the summer.

Sounds sexy to me There used to be a 98 GT in a town nearby that looked very similar to that and it looked hot cruising around. It had chrome 03 cobra wheels but I think the black chrome saleens would look better.

As far as lowering...Spec pretty much nailed it. If you have higher miles ~60k or higher, I'd consider new shocks/struts with your springs. I have 61k on mine and I'm replacing shocks/struts, springs, ball joints and getting new springs.

Generally if you are lowering the car 1.5" or more you should get CC plates to keep your suspension settings in check. Not doing so will cause your camber settings to be positive or negative, causing uneven wear to your tires. With the price of tires these days, you don't want to be replacing them every 20k miles.

So if you know you want to lower the car 1.5" or more, plan on buying CC plates. As said, Maximum Motorsports are the best out there, no doubt.
