New to the game

Just got my first car. 98 v6. I wanna put dual exhaust on it and start adding power but what I wanna know is if I get duals how will they come out the back. Will they be under the bumper or will I need body work done and holes cut for the exhausts to fit.

I hope this isnt a stupid question.

Re: New to the game

Not a stupid question at all. You could probably get them put through the bumper if you wanted but I think they are usually done under the bumper

Oh and Welcome!

There is no stupid question. Someone is always knowledgable about things if not they all voice their opinion.

You can run dual exhaust on 98 v6 easily. I have the same car as you and it looks and sounds good. You won't produce the v8 rumble your looking for but it will sound WAY better than stock. Depending on where you live you'll wanna run a h o/r x pipe. I wouldn't recommend running it divorced with 3 cylinders for each pipe because it is usually quieter with less back pressure. It runs perfectly underneath the car to stick out the back end with no bumper modifications, that's totally unnecessary. Pick which brand sounds good to you; whether price, sound, or both. You might just want to go with a axelback setup. Hope this helped.

I doubt I know much more. I didn't know squat when I joined a month ago, I've just gathered alot from reading. In California and maybe jersey a x pipe is technically illegal but I'm not sure what the law actually states. Someone else will know for sure. But if you somewhere else your fine.

Ok so your talking emission ratings and stuff. Haha I live in Kentucky. We have no laws like that. To many rednecks here. Sorry if I offended anyone. What all have you done to your car?

Haha no offense at all, my family is from the hills there. I haven't done to much because im planning on selling it to get a cobra eventually. I just put two 12's in the trunk with an amp, deck, taillight tint, dual exhaust, new headlights, painted the wheels( which actually came out very nice) and some accessories. You defiantly need a game plan when modding.

Yeah I've learned that much lol. Like here the plan. It cost me 4500 to buy the car and it nice. Only 53000 miles on it. So after I pay it it's:
Dual exhaust
4.10 gears
New wheels
Headers
Cold air
Then I haven't thought that far ahead cuz I don't wanna excite my self to much for something that won't happen for a couple years. But yea I love my car. I have tinted windows and a new deck. That's all I've done.

Tint is nice, it's subtle but adds class. I got tint all the way around as a Xmas gift from the girl.

I got mine for Christmas too from my uncle. And my deck from my parents. I'm hoping I get some under hood stuff for my birthday. What color is your car? In and out cuz that's where mine ruins most of the upgrades I want

Excuse me. ****ing white. And tan inside. Pisses me off. I can't stand tan. Like I want black wheels but I don't think that would look good. And I want chrome/metal pedals but that wouldn't look good cuz of tan.

Got to the junk yard and pull out the interior from another mustang. It would be a lot of work, but if you hate the tan so much it might be worth it to you to swap it out for black.

Re: New to the game

you need to make it look just like a GT and it will function exactly the same. You can buy a GT catback and the only other parts you will need to make it work is the extra exhaust hangers needed and a connection from your current Y pipe to the dual exhaust catback. Some shops can fab up a connection, or you can buy an adapter pipe. Just make sure the catback bolts up (not just welded on)

The tan interior will probably grow on you. Seat covers will only cover the seats(duh) so the panelling will still be tan. If you hate it that bad switch it all out.

How much will that cost? I'm a poor high school student over here. Haha

Yeah it's not that bad. But I want like various chrome trim parts and that would look bad. So oh well I guess

Re: New to the game

My interior was tan. There is "dye" you can purchase in a can and spray on if you have the patience and a little skill or common sense. Many before/after pictures have been posted before, thats how I got the idea.

Actually tan makes for a wicked interior. Great color schemes. Burgundy/tan black/tan. You can paint the trim panels and have a great aspect. I can think of wonderful things to customize your car with being white and tan.

Just think about it. The possibility is endless. I think white and tan are great color combos and have slot of potential.
