That's probably due to the fact that it's easy to get greedy with a turbo and the guys willing to spend the money on them can afford to push the envelope.

Maybe so. Or maybe they just don't hold together. Don't know the specs on turbo systems as far as psi and scfm. Psi and scfm is what matters. Lot of blower cars last longer from what I've seen.

My point is just that with equal PSI, SCFM and all other factors, a turbo will put more power to the ground than a blower. Therefore, to say a turbo is harder on an engine than a blower doesn't really make sense.

Re: Turbo or Supercharger

Well in both cases, proper tuning, fuel and spark is key. Chances of failure are reduced significantly when these variables are adjusted correctly. Of course there's a slew of other variables that can ruin your day...faulty components, engine/engine component failure, etc.

Just keeping the friendly debate alive. Psi and scfm equal. Sc or turbo. How will turbo produce more power? Chargers may rob a couple horses at best to spin it. Turbos will restrict the exhaust. My theory is that restricted exhaust systems build heat and backpressure which means boom. Just my opinion.

I say nitrous would beat both.

Ya but it's not power all the time. And if you want to build real power bbunt is right. Turbo. But you need forged guts. Gonna spend 6k on a blower and not forging the internals is kinda dumb. If you gonna do it. Do it right

Increased back pressure can be easily dealt with by increasing exhaust flow. That's why you'll see turbo cars running 3" or 3.5" exhaust versus the usual 2.5". There's absolutely nothing you can do to get rid of the parasitic blower loss though, other than up the boost to make up for it.

Have you ever read that list of fun facts that circulates around about the top fuel cars? It's been awhile since I've read it, but if I remember right, they spend around 1000 horsepower just to spin the blowers. Obviously your average Mustang blower is nowhere near that. At the same time though, it is significant. You gotta think about the RPMs those things reach and how much work it is to make that happen.

Yeah we could go back and fourth. Guess it's just preference. I dig the straight line torque curve I get from mine though. Turbos just seem to require to much precaution to trust em. I'm just a sc type of guy. It's just easier.
