Unhappy Factory 2000 Mustang - won't start Help :(

Not sure what the problem is - I have a new battery, alternator, fuel filter & fuel pump all replaced in the past 4 months. Last Wednesday, drove to work, left work & stopped for gas. When finished, it would not turn over (gauge needles pegged and returned to 0 but no sound). We checked the fuses and then tried again...car started like there was not problem. Drove 2nd car Thurs & Friday (moved Mustang Thursday night from side yard to driveway and it started up fine). Didn't drive it over the weekend. I went out today to go shopping and I can't even open the car with the keyless remote. No lights inside and absolutely nothing from the car when I tried to start it. The car has 83,000 miles on it - I'm the second owner (I've had it 5 years). Possible ignition issue? My stepson is on his way to try to jump start it....any ideas?

Sounds like the battery is discharging. I wouldn't even know where to start

Well, it took a few minutes, but it started after being jumped. Thanks for the response, Everett. That makes sense - when I jumped it, the first few times the needles pegged again. But after it started, they are now acting normal. Very strange.

Chances are you just need a battery. How long has your battery been in there?

if the battery is new and holds the charge then the alternator may not be charing it fully (can be tested as well) or you have a power drain on the car when the car is sitting draining the battery.

That would be my guess. Something is draining it when it isn't running. I wouldn't even know where to start there. Sorry I cannot be of service

Trunk light, hood light, glovebox light. Check those first.
