Back pressure is pressure created in the exhaust system of a car due to restrictions.

Re: dc sports performance muffler canister (single tip) questions???

Both of your questions go hand in hand. a free flowing exhaust lowers back pressure on an engine. So, in turn, less back pressure will free up a little HP. An example of back pressure is this, breath air through a hose, then breath it through a straw. The more open the exhaust is, the less power it takes for the engine to get rid of the exhaust gasses.
