mufflers? Help

I really want a muffler for my baby. I want something that's really loud and badass sounding at idle. I've heard a lot about the flowmaster super flow 44 and some glasspacks being really loud. I'm buyin only one for my Y pipe.

Go with BORLA. In my opinion it sounds way better than flomaster. Get a set of BORLA Stingers. You won't be disappointed.

BORLA seems to have a deeper tone to it. Less high pitched and more loud and robust sounding. Check out YouTube and compare

Re: mufflers? Help

No mufflers the loudest got pulled over too many times for for loud exhaust
borlas way to quiet sounded too close to stock
glass packs- better then no mufflers but buzzed really bad in the upper RPMs
Flowmaster nice and deep at idol very nice grumblel through the entire RPM band

so yeah i think the flowmasters sound the best

Re: mufflers? Help

you can go two ways, quality sound would be a real chambered muffler mellow sounding or you can go loud which wont sound great but will be just loud. That would be a flow through muffler or no muffler at all.

Re: mufflers? Help

Yah regardless of brand, make sure you get a chambered muffler. Flowmaster, Borla, Pypes...they will all sound much better in the higher rpms and have a crisper tone.

Straight thru design mufflers like Magnaflow, Cherry Bomb or other glasspacks are going to be louder, but will sound more annoying and similar to a 4 cylinder above 2000rpms.

If you just want to swap a muffler in to save on costs, go with a chambered single muffler and cut off the single exhaust pipe that sits under the bumper. Have a turndown tip attached to the outlet end of the muffler. This will not only look better (no single limp noodle underneath the bumper), but give you a deeper tone as it will reverberate off the ground.

Re: mufflers? Help

I have the single chamber mufflers and like e'm. I can vouch for deep and loud. I found videos on you tube before choosing them. Never thought about dumps and reverberation.
Sonicpony03 has done his homework. I say bounce your ideas back at em in case you might have some misconception he can correct.

This is a never ending topic on every forum out there. Everyone has their own experience and preference when it comes to exhaust sounds. Some say flows, some say borla and other pypes. I have flows and I think they sound good, not great but good. I have the end all for this topic, play a sound track in your car of a nice cammed v8!

I think it's a little too high pitched on a v6. I would go with BORLA stingers. Seriously. They sound amazing on a six. In my opinion a lot better than flowmaster.

Oh. Dang. Well you could probably find some stingers for about 200 if you look a while. I think it's worth it

No mufflers sounds horrible. Drones so bad. High pitched cackle. Ouch on the ears. There is a happy medium. I don't like loud personally. Can't sneak around if you sound like a tank. The single chamber flowmasters have a nice deep tone and not crazy loud. Jmo
