V6 vs. VTEC?

is Vtec on a Honda or Acura faster than a stock Mustang V6? I was curious becuase I have afriend who is crazy about Honda's and Acura's especially Vtec engines... Tell me your opinion's or performance data. An exampl a 1999-2011 mustang v6 vs 1999-2011 Honda Civics (with vtec) or Si's.

Re: V6 vs. VTEC?

Well the new 3.7L is basicly a vtec motor, made on the same basis.

Well unless i'm wrong (I feel I might be) but hondes are front wheel drive, so if that's the case a VTECH engine is basicly a front wheel drive mustang v6. Right?

K Vtec stands for valve technology. On the cam of the Honda motors there is another higher lift lobe so when it gets into the higher rpms (past 5000) it uses this higher lift lobe to make more power.I am not farmilar with newer mustangs but the old 3.8 3.9 do not have this feature. And the hondas are way lighter which is why they don't need much power to go fast.

Hence the words (Variable Cam Timing) which the 3.7L has and the 5.0L"new".

Nice... Like I said. I am not familiar with the new ones. The technology is amazing tho. Much longer powerband. And useable power. Doesn't drop off

I rode in a buddy of mine's Honda Civic Hatch with V-Tec. When that **** kicked in, felt like a 10 shot of nitrous!

**** let them line up against a gt and theyll get spanked. im sorry but when u dont make power till 5k then ur gonna need a lot of power to make up the ground u lost. and i wouldnt necessarily say that the new engines are like vtec bc they do make plenty of power down low

Yeah, well, you just can't make up for that much more displacement.

They are classified as economy cars or sub compacts, not sports cars. Even these insanely boosted honda are still annoying little fart cans. They can scream about vtec all day long, doesn't make up for the fact that Honda also makes lawnmowers....I wonder if those have vtec too lol!

ford had lawnmowers too and tractor's, just ford was better at it and better at making power out of the technology.

The s2000 was a miserable underpowered failure. AutoX is usually dominated by miatas anyway. S2000 is just a Honda. Acura NSX is another story.

Re: V6 vs. VTEC?

yes it was underpowered but the s2000s do give the miatas a run for ur money. and i dont think they run in the same class. also the nsx (at least the one ive seen) is terrible through quarters! way way too much body roll for a "super car". i dont deny that theyre awesome cars and look sexy as hell but from what ive seen they arent great through the quarters

No the NSX is not a quarter mile car. Strap on a turbo and look out. They can really cut corners. My favorite little road course car has to be the z3 M coupe. That is a bad little dude.

I used to have a meme image that said racing a honda is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded.

I4 hondas all lack one key ingredient to being a good drag car without tons of money thrown into the bottemless ecobox pit, and that is TORQUE. However on the top end it'll be ugly, keep it to an eigth of a mile and you'll walk them though.
