Sct tuner worth it?

I just made a trip to Myrtle beach and I notice the stang loves the highway. It sucks that it doesn't go like that in town. I have no problem dropping it in 4th at 75 and jumping up to 100. I have noticed that you can get her really going in town, as long as I drop gears and really get on it. It is such a shame that everyone gives the six so much crap. I'd have to say from my experience if you let loose on it she will move in a hurry. The six isn't exactly the dog people make it out to be. With some good foot work I get my pony moving. Granted I don't get my face sucked off like in the 03 cobra I drove, it's still a good bit if fun. I recently got stuck with a lame rental, an 09 chevy Malibu, and the damn thing had a hard time holding 75 on the highway. And when u had to floor it to pass someone the gas gauge would drop like a rock. 190 hp isn't all that great for the six, but it does have 225 tq. I have been looking into an sct tuner and although it seems to benefit the autos more, still seems like it's worth while. My brother is giving my an 01 six auto so I could use it on that too. It's 400 from am, but for the gains expressed by many people and the fact that I could use it on both my mustangs, seems alright. I'd like to here from the guys that have one, is it worth the 400 bucks?

Re: Sct tuner worth it?

You can only use the SCT on one vehicle at a time. Once you install a tune or make modifications it is "married" the only way to "unmarry" the tuner is to return the vehicle it's "married" to back to stock.

Yep. If that wasn't the case, the company wouldn't make any money and would sell way less tuners. Smart thinkin.
To answer your question though. A tuner is well worth the cost!

I was told you can send an SCT tuner used for another vehicle back to a dealer and have then sweep clean the tuner for use on another vehicle but it will cost ya. I have my 2007 GT SCT tuner sitting here in my drawer no longer being used. My 2007 GT I no longer have.

Re: Sct tuner worth it?

Question on the SCT Tunners. If you are as clueless as me when it comes to doing work on vehicles, what is required to do when you hook it up to the car? I want a CAI with a tune, but not knowing what I'm supposed to be doing, looks like I'll be taking it to a mustang shop to have the tune done. My question is, what are you tunning? The amount of air/fuel mixture? How do you know you are doing it right? Does the sound and run of the engine running let you know if you are doing it right?

You just plug it into the odb port under the dash.

Re: Sct tuner worth it?

Yeah, Its a must have. If you can have it dyno tuned its all the better, especially if you have started some bolt on mods. Fun stuff.

Re: Sct tuner worth it?

some good places can mail you a tune made for your car, you data log/dyno it and they update it as needed then you are good to go. It may take longer but... some have to go that route.
