Will a t45 fit on my v6? What bellhousing?

I have the oppurtunity to pick up everything I need from a friend who rolled his stang. I wasnt going to swap until next year but this is an opportunity i cant pass up.

It's a 96 GT, 100k miles. He rolled it when he spun out and hit an embankment.

Its got the 273 rear, so Im going to pass on that. But he was a stick, T45. Can I make it work?

I wouldn't pass up the rear man. It's an 8.8 with a locker. Spent 100 bucks on gears when you get the rear and put whatever you want in it.

As far as what you need......everything plus a computer.

Go for the rear. You'll have a hard time finding a stock Mustang rear with much more than 2.73s anyway. Even if you find one with 3.08s (or the rare 3.27s), you'll want at least 3.55s.

A good rear is hard to come by. :pnoid:

Yea I figured it would be different. I know you can use the t5's out of the 5.0 and use the same bellhousing and it will bolt to a 6. Wasnt sure on the modular's t45.

I know I could tackle this swap. I guess I need to just look around for a t5.

As for the rear, you really think it'd be worth it. I only plan on making about 250-350hp on my 6, never gonna be on drag slicks.

I broke my 7.5 rear on street tires at around 175rwhp/190rwtq. It can happen... the spider gears are the weak link. You SHOULD be ok but... when you add it up to build the 7.5 RIGHT its going to cost around 700 bucks so you can buy an 8.8 for that and spend a bit more on some gears perhaps~ or find one with them already installed.

Re: Will a t45 fit on my v6? What bellhousing?

Thats what ive been trying to do to save myself the install fees. I know I can drop and replace my whole rear, but no way am I gonna open that pumpkin up and start playing with a micrometer.

I guess it wouldn't hurt. I have a knock coming from the rear already so it's on it's last legs. Ive been beating the shizzy out of it since I got the car back on the road last July.

Ill keep looking.
