Just ordered springs and spacers

I just ordered springs that will drop the stang 1.5 inches in the front and 1.2 in the rear. I also bought some billet 1.5 inch spaces for the rear. It sits lower now with the cut springs but I can't get out of my driveway with out making a ramp. With the 1.5 drop in the front will I need caster camber plates? I've heard some say that's right at the limit you will need em. I just wanted to know before I tried to get it aligned. Oh and I bought new struts and shocks.

Re: Just ordered springs and spacers

Anytime I have dropped the car I have always installed caster camber plates and bumpsteer kits. Then had the car correctly aligned.

Re: Just ordered springs and spacers

its a very high chance you will need CC plates on a pre 05 if you drop it much more than 1-1.25 inches.

I just ordered some steeda cc plates. More than I wanted to spend but they seem to get good reviews.

Re: Just ordered springs and spacers

I just got done lowering mine 1.75 in the front and 1.6 in the rear with H&R super sport springs, new isolators and bump stop, new monroe gas shocks/struts, Maximum motorsports caster cambers, steeda bumpsteers, Mach 1 chin spoiler and delete grill, and new front rotors and pads. This was the winter project for my stang and it made a great improvement in handling, driveability, and looks.

I would have went with maximum motorsport casters rather than steeda. If you didn't replace the isos on the springs it could be a reason you are sitting lower too.

Either way you will enjoy the benefits. took us 8.5 hours my two front springs were broke and had to take air chisel to them to get them off the a-frame.

Very nice...yah the aftermarket lowering springs will feel much better than the cut springs. Plus the lookwith a drop can't be beat.

Cut springs are terrible. I'll never make that mistake again

I won't cut another set either. But I couldn't know unless I tried it. I like to find stuff out for myself, and I found out that cutting springs is just not worth it, **** you can get cheap springs for around a 100 bucks. But once again I wanted to see what the craze was all about, and it's about being cheap...

The Mach 1/bullitt packages don't come with CC plates. You probably won't need them if you get one of those packages since the springs only lower the car .75"-1".

As said they don't come with CC plates. You have to purchase and install them.

Re: Just ordered springs and spacers

If you notice when turning or driving that the wheel kinda bumps one direction or different things you may need a bumpsteer kit.

Re: Just ordered springs and spacers

cut springs (linear springs) are fine if you dont cut to much, and its also how you cut them (no heating the springs up)

Yea, the heat is an issue but it's somewhat mute for any individual who is trying to do this at the house. More than likely he is heating the spring up significantly during the cutting process.

With my cut springs it handles the same around town, just a lot of noise on bumps, but on the highway it goes wherever it wants.
