Rattling

Whenever I'm driving and come to a stop I hear a small rattle either behind the instrument panel, or behind my radio and cd player... It's coming from in the dash... Any ideas y'all?

Try the vents, mine rattle a little when I have my speakers up or if I go over bumps. And by vents, I mean the vent panel above the radio.

Re: Rattling

It's easy enough to take apart. I've done it several times but cant imagine what would be vibrating at idle.
Anytime I hear about a V6 noise of any kind, I think about the clutch fork rattle that effects so many of our cars. It drove me mad. It can be described as so, so many different things. Mostly like an engine tapping.
But anyway, thats probably not your issue. Hopefully you can narrow it down by just putting pressure on the spot its coming from and make it stop or sound differently.

More than likely, your dash assemblies might have broken plastic connectors. Whenever I took my radio out, I noticed that all of my little plastic tabs were snapped off. That might be similar to what is wrong with yours. It could also be the venting plastic right below your front window.

If your car is anything like a 1998, you'd have to take the center console assembly thing out. There are two screws below the radio, I believe. Then you gotta take the ac vents out using a flat head screw driver. It pulls out after that.

It should be about the same. Just be careful with the top of the housing. Two clips up there are easy to break. Plus, you'll have to have your shifter back to get the assembly out.

@ project pony it scrapped a little off the rim of the rotor close to the wheel but hardly any damage.... So that's a good thing...
