What motor....on the 2v I think ford set it at 6150 or 6050.... I dont remember. Your peak power on a 2v is at 5200 so going past 6000 isn't really gaining you speed. Better off to shift cause peak torque is at 4200.....keeping it between 4200-5500.... Gives you your best acceleration

Ford sets it at the factory. You can bounce it off the limiter with mo threat of damage.... Ford makes them teenager proof

Leave the pedal on the floor....the engine will hit the rev limit and kinda bounce. The ecu shuts off fuel when you hit the rpm limit, then feeds fuel again when the rpms drop....thus bouncing it off the rev limiter

That's where the line starts...not where the actual limiter is

Ford has the rev-limiter set so you can't over-rev the engine. You will run out of gas before you blow it up

Re: The red zone

not sure on the 6cyl. but for 5 liter motors, ford has the rev limiter set at 6250. my car has an auto also. ive smacked it up to 6100 a whole bunch of times.

also...just so u know, bouncing it off of the rev limiter isnt good for the motor. when the computer backs off the timing and fuel, it causes detonation in the cylinders. it looks cool on drifting competitions, road racing, and other forms of racing. but those guys rip their motors apart and rebuild them everytime they run them. none of us here do that.

im not sayn anyone here is gonna blow up their car. but it should be kept to minimum.

Agreed, I don't see it being healthy to bounce it all the time
