Windshield wipers

Whenever I have my wipers on and I signal, the wipers stop until I turn my signal off. It has to do something with the column. Any help guys and gals would be appreciated since this only happens when it's raining.

Yea I'm sure I'm not turning them off. I'm not twisting the switch as I signal.

Re: Windshield wipers

sounds like the switch there is going bad~ not to hard to replace. Maybe someone will chime in in a bit with a similar issue and how they fixed it.

I figured that something in the column is bad but I don't know what piece or wire or relay because I think replacing the piece rather than the whole thing is much cheaper

I'm glad that doesn't happen to me lol. We live in the sunny states so that must suck when it comes on when it's hot out and the wiper drags across the windshield screeching.

Re: Windshield wipers

For the SN95's you replace the "multi function switch" which is the turn signal/wiper arm connected to the column. Its a combo of 2 philips screws and then torque screws to disassemble if I remember correctly.
Replacement parts vary from $35.00-$75.00. I searched out a Motorcraft part but ended up with an aftermarket and it has looked and felt like the original. Hope that helps.

Wiper blades cost $20.00 a piece and are sold by length. You want a single arm/contoured style blade most companies sell now. Rain X, Bosh, Trico, and PIAA all make them this way now.

Thanks alot man. That's probably spot on with what's wrong. I'll research that and post if that's what's corrupting my wipers.
