Are you looking for exterior or performance mods mostly?

tune (works good for modifying the shift points in the auto), gears, exhaust, intake, underdrive pulley

Re: Cheapest mods for 2000 v6 auto?

Taller gears (3.73's or 4.10's) will make the car accelerate much better than your stock 3.27's.

I'd say for you - get a handheld tuner for ~$400. It's relatively inexpensive, will provide much need transmission shifting improvements, possibly some hp/tq increase based on octane use, and is very easy to interact with. You basically plug it in and follow the instructions.

Gears are probably the best mod aside from FI, but there's a lot to the install and it can get pricey...definitely not the best mod for a beginner, even if someone does the work.

Plus you'll need the tuner for a gear install anyways to adjust the speedometer.

Quickest bang for the buck to Mod a car looking back on it now, I would say:
Ford Racing Gears, True Dual Exhaust, SCT Tuner~
Post what you decide to do first & how it turns out.
