Getting A New Hood

I'm looking for a new Hood for my V6, has to be mineral gray. The two I'm looking at are a 1999-2002 GT hood or a 2004 V6 hood.

The hood is the part of my car that has the most chips in the paint, and I was debating on getting a gt scoop in it but figured I like the rounder look better.. and I can kill 2 birds with one stone if I just get a new hood. Yes, it's a bit more expensive. I know this, but the only question I have is the colors WILL match, correct? Being they're all from Ford and the color code is the same?

Re: Getting A New Hood

they should match but the care of the paint will also play a factor. If one is faded more than another and so on.

Nothing can be easy huh, lol.. what's the way to get em to match? Paint from Ford and then just paint the hood?

If your getting the hood with a factory ford paintjob it should match identical to the original paint of your car. The problem is if your car has been neglected or sun exposed dramatically then the hues of paint won't fully mesh. If you have taken great care of your paint than the paint should match well.

Re: Getting A New Hood

My car only has 33,600 miles on it. I'm unsure if the previous owner kept it in a garage. I know she lived in Florida, where the sun is strong though.

I haven't seen the car and paint but assuming it's been waxed and claybared occasionally, the hood should match. If the color is so slightly off that you have to get a magnifying glass to see the difference it's up to you, if you care that much. I'd say go for it.

Re: Getting A New Hood

Next question is where do I even look for pre painted hoods. I haven't even looked into them so much as pricing yet but I'm sure it'll be a nice chunk lol.. I'll take a look later.

I'd try latemodelrestoration or cjponyparts or americanmuscle but I haven't searched for prepainted. Goodluck finding what you need

Re: Getting A New Hood

you can just put a scoop on a 99-03 v6 hood and it will look just like a GT FYI

I noticed those scoops, but IDK if it's just me or not.. but it looks more of a squared scoop compared to the actual GT hood.

Also, the hood of my car has roughly 10 chips in it, and figured a new hood all together would actually get rid of the area where most of the cars marks are. Obviously the 87 year old lady driving my car liked to ride ***.

Re: Getting A New Hood

a new hood should be pretty darn cheap as well, paint might not be a perfect match though

Where were you looking, and new as in brand new or new as in 05+ new?

My car is a 2002. I'm looking for a 2004 V6 Hood or a 1999-2003 gt hood.
