Quick exhaust question.

Sooo,
Is it possible to fit a 1998 gt exhaust on a 1998 v6?
I wanna put the Flowmaster American Thunder Cat Back Exhaust on my car. Will it fit, however?

Re: Quick exhaust question.

yea, you will need to come up with a connection for the Y pipe to fit up to the catback where the gt had an H pipe connection~ thats the only hard part. They make kits or you can get a shop to fab it up.

So it will technically fit but it will not directly bolt on.

You will also have to have exhaust hangers where yours are missing (other side of the pipe) and the exhaust tip hangers... but it can be done!

Re: Quick exhaust question.

same issue, the Y pipe wont bolt up to an H pipe exhaust wise~ you have one pipe on the catback on the V6 and two on the V8~ you must get a connection to allow it to bolt up.

look at the GT vs V6 on the underside and you will see what I mean.

Re: Quick exhaust question.

Here's the stock v6 exhaust vs the GT stock exhaust:

The stock piping size is 2.25" for both cars...that's what is nice about the GT takeoffs, you keep that stock 2.25" size and won't lose backpressure as you do with most aftermarket systems that are 2.5".

If you want to use a GT catback/exhaust you need to cut out the y-pipe and either buy a dual exhaust adapter or have a shop fab up a couple pipe sections from the catback to your catted sections or midpipe if you have one.

It's not difficult to do and isn't that expensive either.

Not to hijack the thread but if it's a Borla y-pipe for the v6, then I'd just leave it in the car and get new system for the new car. Any questions PM me.
