Re: rotors and brakes

yup the difference is in the brake pads, the hardware such as the caliper and rotor are the same.

Re: rotors and brakes

That's good news...now he can pick up 4 rotors for ~180...

So the pads are a different size? Guess he will just have to pick up some pads from oreily's or something.

Just for clarification...Bullit and GT rotors are the same right? I can't see them being different..but for some reason, the site doesn't list rotors for GT's...only bullits and cobras.

Re: rotors and brakes

the pads are different but the same size, the compound is different.

Bullit brakes are the same as the cobra brakes

The rotors on a bullit are the same as a cobra? That doesn't seem right. If so, then why split the purchase out by cobras and bullits?

And when you say the pads are different but the same size...umm...so, that means GT pads will fit on a v6. We don't care about compound because he is buying new pads.

I did some research and they have the same brake setup as the 96-98 cobras...same rotors as the 96-04 cobras.

Seems dumb to me in the way he has them split up on his page...oh well. I shot him a message to see if he has GT brakes in hope the product page is just stale.

Yes, Bullit's, Mach's, and Cobra's all have the same upgrade package.

GT's and V6's have the same except for pads like said above.

If you're gonna spend the money, go ahead and do an upgrade man. I'm serious, not worth buying stock parts again.

Not getting stock parts...getting all 4 rotors for $160 shipped...new...cross drilled and slotted for the pimp factor since he doesn't autocross...

They are the same ones I have been running for a bit over a month now...only I am going to have him get some different pads as I'm not so sure I like the ones I have right now.

Rotors are great tho...and for $160 total for all 4...yeah...sign me up. They will be going on the GT here shortly as well.

Re: rotors and brakes

I would suggest he doesnt get slotted and drilled as I did.. and regreted it... I never abused mine and within no time they warped to hell and back.

if it is a good brand then maybe he will be ok... you just never know.

I agree with you there; I would suggest staying away from slotted rotors...I have seen several sets crack or warp within a couple months of purchase...especially if they get wet and you are doing heavy braking while they are wet...cold water on HOT drilled brakes = VERY BAD...

Re: rotors and brakes

I've broke heavily on mine in the rain...no problems. Had heaving 100+ mph braking...no issues. I did some research on these rotors and no one seemed to have the warping/cracking issues.

Stock was 13 inch brembo rotors and twin piston PBR calipers on the Bullitt..

Sheesh guys, you could have just asked a Bullitt owner...

And as far as the whole cross drilled and slotted thing, unless you autocross HEAVILY and ROAD COURSE heavily, there is no use for them, unless you like buying a lot of pads/rotors. The design weakens the rotor and on day to day use(light braking) can actually mess up the rotors and when the rotor warp they tend to screw up the pads as well...

I use stock style(brembo) rotors and Hawk Performance Pads. I stop when and where I want to. :yup:

and I want slotted rotors with hawk autox pads because I have started autox a lot...hence my desire for them...although the slots will put me in ESP and not Fstock, damn it...lol

i agree they look better but just spend extra for good brands... those that are molded with slots and holes are stronger than any.

You don't always get what you pay for...and sometimes the good deal isn't too good to be true.

Slotted would be your best bet in autocross and would last the longest on day to day basis. Of course this is knowledge coming from hanging out with autocrossers and imports for years on end

Re: rotors and brakes

Anything you buy cheaply built for your car will brake or give harsh performance....
The majority of warped rotors come from folks keeping the foot on the brake to hard or long after they get the rotors hot.

But what if that's what they were "designed to do?"

Re: rotors and brakes

Yes brakes are designed to help you rest in place but you dont want to keep excesive pressure on the pad or rotor after a stop. When at a light I keep just enought pressure on the brake pedal to hold me in place.
