Cats are restrictive and do lower the sound. If you want loud chop em off

Re: cats or no?

I will have to advise against cutting off your cats. V6 cars with no cats just do not sound good, there's no way around it. I know...I've had one.

If you're really looking for a power gain then go with a high-flow cat setup. The M-90 you posted just honestly doesn't flow enough air to worry about cats restricting the flow.

Re: cats or no?

i understand that but i would not put an m112 on a v6 car think about it and its not that bad, it forsure will not seem like any v6 with that supercharger, i id say it will beat but that v8 model mustang up to like 2004 so ill be fine with it, but i still think i want to take the cats off how hard would it be?

Not real sure what you're wanting to say here...but I'll attempt.

I will give you this one piece of advice before beginning. I'm not sure what the laws are in Canada, but I know here in U.S. it is a federal crime to remove functioning catalytic converters. Just wanted to throw that out there to begin with.

Your best option would be to buy an aftermarket "off-road" midpipe. It will literally replace the pipe section that currently houses your catalytic converters. You will either need a set of MIL eliminators or a custom tune to tell your rear o2 sensors everything is ok to prevent a check engine light, but hopefully....hopefully...you will get a custom tune when the supercharger is installed.

Re: cats or no?

And just to give you some idea of numbers before you start all this, do not expect more than 210-220 rwhp with that setup you showed a picture of. I would expect you to be in that range with a stock single port 3.8 and the m90 supercoupe setup.

Just trying to help here...didn't realize I was talking to a seasoned engine builder..who doesn't know how to remove catalytic converters.

If your car has the stock single port 3.8 it came with from the factory it had nowhere near 225 rwhp when new, and definitely nowhere near at this point. I'm just trying to give you some realistic numbers and expectations.

Onto the original topic. You've already answered your own question by saying you're going to take them off, hence this thread is through.
