Automatic stuck in park..Help?

Ok guys, I have a problem.
The 2000 (v6, auto) is stuck in park.
After the motor blew itself up I parked it under a canopy in the driveway and unfortunately has been there like that for a while.
Now I need to move it (push out from underneath the canopy) but I can't get it out of park...
I can't even turn the key.
How can I get it into neutral?
Do I need to disconnect something?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is a release next to the shifter. It has a cover that must be removed. Not positive since I don't have an auto.

Is your wheel locked? Might jiggle the wheel back and forth while turning the key. Sometimes they get stuck like that.

If you can't turn the key at all, I would also assume the steering wheel is locked.

You should be able to jiggle the steering wheel back and forth while attempting to turn the key to free it. I honestly don't know if there's an easy trick to undo it...

Yea, what they said. It's obvious you can't get it out of park with the ignition in the OFF position. But if it's in accessory and it still won't get out of park, make sure your foot is on the brake, and if not then it may be the brake switch.

And make sure you have a charged battery in it when you do get the key to move. Also you can get under the car with it on jack stands and unbolt the shift linkage then shift the trans out of park WHILE someone is holding the brake.
