A shop that exclusively works on Mustangs have you come in to put your car on a dyno machine. They run the car to get a baseline of information in regards to how the car is operating, air/fuel mixture, current horse power/torque ect..
They then begin to create a custom tune for your car by utilizing real time, accurate, actual information the car is able to produce. Race tunes, performance tunes, or fuel efficient economy tunes can be set up accurately based on what your car has provided the SCT computer information files.
Its the difference between a custom dyno tune file created and one mailed to you with guesstimates derived from something like a CAI/Exhaust mod item you provided from a list, compared to a dyno tune that had actually measured exactly how much air you are moving in and out of the entire engine set up to create a performance tune.
Make sense kinda? Hope so, I think that's what you were wondering.
