Hood

I have a 1995 V6. Will a newer hood from a 99-04 bolt right onto my brackets? What do you guys think about if I put on a mach 1 or GT hood onto a base model mustang?

I dont want to cut my stock hood up for a hood scoop. It is in perfect condition other than needing paint. Making new brackets wouldnt be hard to do

Re: Hood

Making the brackets would be easy to do just test fit the hood you are trying first to make sure all the lines match up because if it messes up the lines of the car it's not worth it.

Re: Hood

Yah if you can make 99-04 hood fit a 94-98 without any fabbing I'd be very impressed.

Check out Latemodel Restoration an CJ Pony Parts, I remember seeing some good looking 94-98 hoods in their catalogs. The 96 cobra hoods look nice, as do the cowls.

Re: Hood

Ya I just checked out a 2000 gt tonight and the hood brackets are the same but since the body lines are different. I don't see it fitting without some major fabricating.

Re: Hood

If it's possible to do and if you can get the lines right it would be a unusual modification.

Re: Hood

Ya it would and I think I might try it. I need to do a little more looking at body lines and everything to see if it will work.

Re: Hood

I think it'd be much easier to buy a 94-98 hood. You can put a 99-04 hood scoop on your car if you really wanted...I've seen them on sn95 cars, I personally don't think they fit the lines of the car, but it can be done.

They do make the Mach 1 shaker scoop kit for your year car too...you can cut the hole and have the functionl shaker scoop...those always look nice.

Re: Hood

It would be more amusing to put that skaker hood on because people already think my car is a V8 but in reality it is a V6.

I think that would look nice to complete and do for sure.I agree with above buy a hood done already or the scoop to have a body shop do for you.
