Possibly a transmission problem, but see if you can help!

I started to notice that while going from park to drive my car kind of jerks a little. I thought to myself, "Well, this is a little weird but it still drives fine.." But then as I was coming to a stop at a red light, my car slightly jerked a little before coming to a stop.

Hrrm..

Doesn't seem to matter how slow I come up to the stop, the car still jerks slightly before coming to a stop. It's getting pretty annoying, and I've got suspicions that it's gotta be the transmission.

Randomly on cooler days, the car won't jerk. But when it gets a bit warmer, it starts up again. Last night, as I was parking my car, I noticed a knocking noise coming from the engine and it seemed a bit loud. OH! And while at a stop light, the car shook outta no where! I'm not sure what's going on with it, it's got 93k miles on it, and I'm going to take it to the mechanic next week. Any thoughts?

If the costs are anywhere over 1500, I'm probably going to get rid of it. I don't think my 2002 V6 Stang is worth the repair at this point. But don't let it hear me say that, or it probably won't start tomorrow morning

Really? Hrm, I hope that's all it is. My mustang has been pretty good to me over the years, I wouldn't mind getting a new 5.0 to replace it when it comes time.. but I really like the styling and look of the Challengers

Re: Possibly a transmission problem, but see if you can help!

I had a similar problem with mine - and it was also idling really high. when i put it in park my rmps would be as high as 2 or 3 and it would jerk when putting it to Drive.

took it to a friend who is a mechanic at ford and he simply tapped my IAC and the rmps went down automatically, the IAC was gettin stuck - after 10 years of use i assumed cleaning it would only last so long so i changed it last week and its been working just fine!
