Exclamation 2000 v6 rmps after iac change

I was having problems with my iac, which was causing my rmps to be in the high 3000s when idle. talking to my friend who is a ford mechanic, i decided to change it. i changed it and it went back to normal.

after driving the car for maybe 30 mins or so, when i put it in park my rmp stays a little over 1. when if i turn the car off and then on, the rmp is below 1. is this normal? it could sound stupid but i never really paid attention... n now that i changed the IAC ive been paying attention like craaazy!

also, after turning the car on the rmp goes up to 2 and slowly makes its way down below 1.

Thanks!

try cleaning the maf really good as it can influence many things~ it may take a bit for the computer to relearn~ also reset the battery perhaps.

The idle decay rate on the v6 is high, my 01 did odd things like this as well sometimes.

Re: 2000 v6 rmps after iac change

it seems normal... but since its above once once i stop driving and below one when i turn it on it just wasnt clicking... maybe im just exaggerating.

after driving for a while it should be below one when i put in in park, right?

ill clean the maf this weekend if the weather is nice - any tips?

Re: 2000 v6 rmps after iac change

Yah that's pretty normal. Mine does goofy stuff like that too sometimes. After the car warms up the idle rpms will drop below 1k...a first start and it will race above 1 into 2, then idle down.

As said I'd clean the MAF...never hurts.
