Throttle Body on my v6 2003 mustang

My son decided to put a Throttle Body on my v6 2003 mustang while I was away for the weekend. The only non-stock ad on was a cold air intake I had on it. Well surprise the car runs like crap. I went through all the steps with him to see if he did something wrong but everything looks OK. Do I need to run a diagnostic to get it running right after such an ad on? Any help would be great before I have to run it to a shop.

Im no genius but I think it may be that your pushing to much air and not enough fuel to even the ratio, I think you can just tune it or something to get the ratio back to what it was stock but just in larger proportions.

i think you just need a tune to make that throttle body run with that car. your car aint used to seeing that much air running into it. does it idle fine?

Now that you mention it; it does idle high and when you drive it there no real power. You push the pedal down and it slowly accelerates.

well the throttle bodies on the 3.8L anywhere near stock are not going to do anything if you can get your money back just put the stock one back on and save you some money as they dont make any gains unless you are over 350rwhp or so.

How long have you drove it since it got the tb? It can take some time for your car to adjust all the air coming in. If not then a tune will do it for sure.

It probably will work its self out as the computer adjusts to it. But I don't think a shop will want to promise anything until you have the upper intake ported out to the same diameter as the TB itself.

Keep in mind the older engines like the 94-04's don't have the learning capablilities like the newer +2010's. They need the physical tune to adjust parameters correctly. It would've definitely been nice if that technology was used on those mustangs, but it wasn't, so they need some human assistance.

To the OP, glad to hear it was something miniscule. Now you can get back on the road with peace in mind.

if you keep having trouble just take it off, you are not gaining anything by having it other than trouble.
