01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

okay i have a 2001 mustang that hasnt been started in about 2 years. i already drained the gas and put 5 gallons of fresh gas in. i pulled the plugs and sprayed each cylinder with fogging oil and put 6 new plugs in. i cranked it manually and everything seemed in fine working order..i tried turning the key and the engine cranks great...but will not start. i pulled some codes, i got P1233, p1516, and p0102, im not worried about the MAF code..i know thats not causing the no start..i checked the fuel shut off switch in the trunk and was down...i tried popping it up and had no luck starting the engine. it seems like its not getting any gas though. idk if the switch needs to be up or depressed...umm i can hear the fuel pump running when i turn the key on. i will check fel pressure tomorrow morning but is there something else? am i overlooking smething simple?? keep in mind that the car has sat in a garage for 2 years. thanks in advance for all the help!!!!

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

well your on the right track for sure I believe the fuel shut off switch has to be pushed in for the pump to work and it pops out to shut off . another thing to check will be (spark )it will crank without spark but will not start you will need two people to check for that one to turn the key and one to look under the hood for spark . I dont know what the codes are by number but if you can tell me what the codes are I may be able to help you more . I hope this helps

Spray a little choke cleaner down the throttle body. Then try and start it. Injectors may be stuck.

Make sure nothing made a nest inside your exhaust... A friend of mine just found his pipes packed on his 69 XKE that he had sitting for a few years in his garage...

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

of course it wont start. P1233 is a fuel pump offline code. your fuel pump is not working if you got this. p1516 this code has to do with the tps and electronic throttle control motor (if equipped). and p0102 is the mass airflow one. this one would let it start if it was the only code. but it would run really bad. you will need to fix the first two if you want it to start.

The red button on the switch was depressed when I looked last night..tried popping it up..didn't work...pushed it back down, didn't work, disconnected the wires an hooked them back up to it...did not work. The p1233 code that everyone keeps saying fuel pump offline...actually on my scantool it says manufacturer air/fuel metering device...? Idk what it means...all. know is that its not getting fuel to the engine. I'm getting ready to chek fuel pressure right now just to be positive tho

honestly to me it sounds like some wires got chewed through by some animal. those codes dont just set. i would look for any damaged wires before replacing components. so you dont waste money

Hopefully that plug doesnt go to ur module that controls ur fuel pump. That is located under the passenger fender.

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

Well...out of the 3 part stores close to me, nobody has a fuel pump till tomorrow after noon. I came home and pulled the fuel filter and turned the key to on position...no fuel came out of the line..I tried cranking the engine...same thing..so either the fuel pump is not getting power or the fuel pump is bad. And to texastboneking..I'm gona post a pic of that connector real quick its the round plug I'm holding to the left of the pic

If it was in an accident some of the wiring is probably damaged might have to rewire a few things.

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

There's not a single wire that has been damaged. I think I've narrowed it down to the CCRM. If only I knew which wire on the ccrm plug is for the fuel pump power, I could take a test light to it. Screw it I guess ill just go buy a new ccrm and see if that solves the problem

It would be in the relay and fuse box under the hood. If there is one

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

The only thing in there is a tiny 20 amp fuse. You cannot replace the relay that's inside the ccrm can u? U have to buy the whole unit, correct?

Yea there a fuse in the fuse box jnder hood. And yes you will have to replace the whole ccrm. I was having the same problem but it was my fuel pump that went bad.

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

Okay guys one more question lol....I took a test light to the fuel pump relay wires comming out of the ccrm and theirs juice, so I took the test light to the fuel pump control module in the trunk and theirs juice to that too, theirs also power going to the inertia switch....so in my opinion it HASSS to be the fuel pump...any other opinions?

That sounds about right. If there is power and ground at the pump, the pump should run.

Re: 01 hasnt been started in 2 years..help!!

pump filter probably has varnish on it from the bad gas. you MIGHT be able to salvage it with carb cleaner, but you have to take it off anyway, so it' s best to replace it.

Thanks for all the help guys, I put a new fuel pump in justt now and she started right up! Were idling a lil rough but I think a short test drive should clear that right up! Again thanks for all of the help resolving my problem. =)
