Re: mustang mpg

I'm really doing something wrong...I get 16-18 mpg city and have 600 rwhp and 60# injectors....21-23 mpg highway.

A lot of mpg goes into how you drive. If you don't know how to accelerate without putting foot to the floor, that will kill your final numbers. I get 9-12 city when I drive like me.....but when I drive human it's 16-18 like I Said previously.

you know i cant stand u right? i got a non-lock up converter with a 4spd, that's where mine goes. the stall converter dumps the rest of my gas out with city driving (not getting on it).

Yes, you are doing it wrong.

You need to fill up, stop when the pump clicks off, don't continue on to get ot an even amount. Then drive.

When you fill up again, fill up till it clicks off. Take the number of miles driven and divide that by the number of gallons it took to fill up. That is your MPG.

Using your math is off because you don't drive the tank bone dry. You don't know how accurate your fuel level sensor is. You could have 3 gallons left in your tank but the sender says you are empty.

EDIT: Also, you have a 15.7 gallon tank, not 16. That also makes a difference.

a non lockup converter is a style of stall converter. There are lockups, and non-lockups.

with a high hp motor u can snap the output shaft on the tranny with a lock-up converter... so depending on the set-up it's eliminated. think of the lock up as a 5th gear for overdrive... typicaly it's good for 200-350 rpm differnce in cruising on highway.. doesnt sound like much, but itsa big impact on fuel milage in highway driving.

my car has 3.45 gear, but highway speed it acts like a 3.73... i hope im making sense...

I would really like to know mine but I can't seem to keep the pedal off the floor a few times between fill ups. No self control. When I first bought it I was gettin 16 hwy at about a contstant 80mph. On a 1200 mile drive home.

It's difficult for me to keep my foot out of it as well. But my last major trip driving to Niagara Falls, then to Lake George, then back I averaged 23 mpg for the whole trip. That was with the KB setup.

Where was your 1200 mile trip to?

Can't really say because it all depends on the amount of traffic, how many times you start and stop, whether the ac is running...etc. Too many variables.

I flew to Milwaukee to buy it and drove it home. Long ride in a loud cobra. Cody said the fuel mileage should be better now after the tune but I may never know.

Re: mustang mpg

Wow, feel sorry for you v6 guys getting hosed...I took mine too LaCrosse last week and got ~27 on the highway. Mine has 63k miles but I've owned it for over 46k of those miles so it's been pampered and maintained for the majority of it's life.

Simple things like a good wash/wax, proper tire pressure and plugging that air sensor hole in your aftermarket CAI will help mileage...not huge amounts but definitely some.
