Angry HELP-Thudding sound - engine: Manfold?

So of course I buy a new set of rims, then next thing I know - I think I'm screwed w/engine work now!!

I started my car fine and drove to work. then got in it at lunch and it started and died. I was able to restart it everytime and accellorate and it would stay on, but then when no gas given, it would immediatly drop the rpm level and die while still rolling, once I decided to take it home (1 block). It made it, then I jumped it w/another car, and it stayed on!!! but then a thudding sound in the engine bock on the driver side had some thudding sound like air of some type.

Would a busted manifold cause this. Anyone know what exactly a manifold would do if cracked?

Yet to get a diagnostic, leary and looking for advice first.

Re: HELP-Thudding sound - engine: Manfold?

Called a shop, they said if I did blow a vacuum line then it's super cheap to fix (10 cents) - but he would have to do a diagnostic first to ensure, then I'd just pay for the brief labor.

Sounds way to easy, could just having blow a vacum line cause my car to sound that bad and have it shut off? wow?

The car did idle once I connected it w/a battery, I just didnt want to chance driving it right away. Does the fact that it idled after jumping the battery debunk the vacum line theory?

The first thing I would recommend doing is looking at your engine bay and seeing if you see anything disconnected or broken.

It might be this simple, and that would save you some money.

Re: HELP-Thudding sound - engine: Manfold?

will do, Just in case, If the manifold is cracked, how might that affect the car?

I have been driving (not hard) and it hasnt died on me like I did. But the thuddering sound is still there now. The day it died on me when I started it at work, the battery had juice because it kept restarting, only to immediately dying after i got off the gas (stick).

I will get a couple pic's of the engine. It sould to be coming from the block, in the middle, but louder on the left/right side.
