Increasing hp

Hey guys, I got a 95 mustang v6 that I'd like to get as much hp as I can with about $1000. Only mod is a Cai. Could you give me some ideas of what I could do, and the hp gains that come with the mods, thanks

Read what Brent made for us... It's posted the first thing on v6 forum...
Exhaust, sct tuner, headers, gears, you need to know about your car first... So research brent had taken the first step for you...

Well exhaust will sound nice but real gain is about 5-10 at most then a tuner if you use 91 or 93 gas about 10 more now with those mods you gain maybe 20 hp. Gears and tlock will be your best bet or get some subframe connector they made a difference on my car and about 300 with part and install

Re: Increasing hp

1000k wont get you very far mainly due to bolt ons dont really add much of anything. You will need to build the motor etc etc. What are your goals for the car as far as performance levels?

Re: Increasing hp

yea gears/tlok wont add any hp or tq but it makes it feel like it had a good bit added. Best bang for the buck no doubt... but gas mileage will suffer some.

I was thinking to eventually get up to about 220 hp, nothing to fast, just something to cruise in... But I was thinking, duals, and underdrive pulleys as a start?

Re: Increasing hp

Split port swap...

Brings you up to 99-04 3.8/3.9 v6 specs. Take it a step further and throw the Windstar intake on to gain another 8-12 hp. That'll put you close to 200-210hp at the crank.

A handful of bolt ons and a good tune will probably gain another 10-20hp based on the octane and aggressiveness of the tune. You'd be close to 220hp at the crank, which would be ~180hp to the wheels based on a 20% parasitic loss (auto).

Or you could pick up a used 99-04 v6 engine and drop it in...

Those are probably the 2 quickest ways to make the most power for ~$1000.
