Rear Seat Delete

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile but can't decide if its actually worth the work or not?

Lighter vehicle = better hp to weight ratio. What's your concerns exactly?

just if it's actually worth the work. I know it only removes like 25 to 30 pounds or something like that. it's also a concern of how the backs gonna look so empty and open

It makes plenty of room for a nice stereo or just a rear delete you can purchase from AM. There are kits & you can also put in a decent roll cage IF you're running serious enough HP to justify it.

yeah I was thinking about moving my subs from the trunk into the back seat if I do it. but would you suggest one of the AM designs or the full aluminum ones? I like the look of the aluminum ones better but they've gotta weigh alot more than the carpet/particle board options

IF it were me I would make a custom enclosure out fiberglass & resin. I"d surely take my time & custom fit everything along with doing plenty of research into getting it exactly right. I also have a buddy of mine at work who has a paint booth in his garage. Nothing fancy but he could surely match the paint to factory & shoot my custom enclosure to make the body & my rear seat match. I don't foresee it making sense you ripping out the rear seats to make sub enclosures out of wood that could weigh up to the same amount if not more than the seats weighed. Aluminum is a nice & light material, carbon fiber is better, you can make the enclosure yourself out of resin & fiberglass but I would do a wholly ton of research before attempting it.

I'm interested in that seat delete. I took out mine already it looks like it will be a good thing to have... I never bought the delete yet but I will.
I took my bottom seat out, the cushion part. And I held it with me to weigh myself.
After that I took the back part off and held that and weighed myself.
-Me and the seat together minus my weight equals seat weight.
When I was done I noticed the rear seats were about 75 lbs... If I remember right.
And I feel my car actually move faster.

Re: Rear Seat Delete

in a coupe its like 35lbs, every 100-120 is about a tenth of a second so overall.... not worth it.

Asked the ole lady about tearing out the rear seats today and was told I was given the ok to buy the 'Stang cuz it's a 4 sestet and will fit more than 2 in it. This was a huge problem with my ranger from prior...
