A x-pipe changes the sound but doesn't make it louder or quieter

This is my experience get catted x pipe and keep mufflers. Stay legal. I don't have cats, I have x pipe, with mufflers. Sound great but sounds better with cats

Tell you what you do. Save up 800$. Go to Americanmuscle.com and look for an exhaust system called pypes true dual catted exhaust. Sounds good. But get em welded

Re: Straight pipes vs xpipe (both catted)

i had the catted x pipe n sounded veeeeery nice, had it installed wrong so i went to a custom shop n they did catted straight pipes which sounded a lot louder, annoying loud while at the highway, im gonna go with the catted xpipe from pypes - i liked that sound better - thaaaaaaanks!

Re: Straight pipes vs xpipe (both catted)

The loudness problem is coming from a lack of mufflers...the mufflers do reduce the amount of noice being produced. Just get a decent pair of mufflers and have them welded back in...those along with your catted x-pipe will probably sound the best and not be overwhelming on the highway.
