Re: Off road h pipe

On v8's, hells yes.

On v6's, at idle and in the lows yes, but it gets droney and higher pitched above 2500 rpms.

If you've ever heard more noise and bellowing coming from the exhaust than an actual crisp tone, that is drone. Our v6's always get it with an off road pipe, no matter what mufflers you have. V8's can drone too...my buddies GT drones to a point on the highway in 5th gear with flow 40's.

Usually having cats and chambered mufflers helps minimize drone.

I'd personally go for the h-pipe. The x-pipes make the exhaust too raspy and high pitched on the v6's for me. Some people do like them though.

If it were me I'd probably leave the cats on or get less restrictive high flow cats. You'll still pass emissions and the car won't be obnoxiously loud. For me a mellow sounding v6 is the way to go...focus on sound quality rather than sound level.

If you want to set off car alarms, get yourself 2 more cylinders

Re: Off road h pipe

Imo o/r h is the way to go on our cars. I cant see spending twice as much for cats. I think my car has a good tone down low. after 3k they will all sound like ****. nothing can be done about that.
