Slipping transmission?

I have a 3.8 v6 1995 mustang and as I accelerate it shifts 1st to 2nd nicely (unless I accell hard) but then from 2nd to 3rd it take awhile for the trans to continue to drive the tires? so my question is bad clutch, bad flywheel, torque converter or just a aging tranny btw my odometer stopped working at 120k so my guess would be no more than 130k miles and chances are that it nvr got serviced

Re: Slipping transmission?

transmissions that are not taken care of (have not had their fluid changed) generally should not have it changed, once you do you can promote slipping if its higher mileage.

You can try some additives and such to prolong life of it.

The fluid was super black like when I touched it I had like dirt particles all over my hands like someone rubbed 60 grit sandpaper into the fluid and drove with it. So I guess don't spend the money and buy a part or a whole tranny?

Autos are hard to rebuild. Takes a lot of patience and specialty tools. Buy a new one or have it rebuilt
