1999 mustang v6 cat back

Hello, my dad has a 1999 v6 mustang, we saw a mustang the other day and it sound pretty good for a v6 I mean I was impressed... So my dad bought a cat back system from summit racing 3" pipes and looks lime turbo style mufflers.. It changed the tone a little bit but nothing like the one we seen the other day, I do understand that the guy prob had headers on his but will it make it a bit louder if we take the cats apart and take all the stuff out of them and weld them back together?

Re: 1999 mustang v6 cat back

the 3.8L without cats is just LOUDER and doesnt sound better or deeper, just louder... which can be a bad thing on those motors at anything but idle to 2k rpms

Re: 1999 mustang v6 cat back

After several setups with the flowmaster on mine, it still not where I want it. I did run into a guy with almost the same setup as me (true dual, h-pipe, with cats) running magnaflows instead of the flows, and it sounded great! My flow are coming out and getting replaced with the magnaflows. They sound much much better on a six.

Yeah that's what my buddy has on his 6 banger truck and it sounds alright until he goes into high rpms. That's what I want cause a sigle flownaster doesn't sound good unless it's under 1500 rpms or higher than 3000
